The A-Team Review

The A-Team is a movie filled with great one liners, a team of memorable characters and big dumb action. It was an absolute blast. I wasn’t expecting some mind boggling masterpiece of a film going into The A-Team. I was expecting non-stop action with great actors like Liam Neeson and Sharlto Copley acting well their parts. Do I consider The A-Team a great movie? No. Did I have a great time watching? Hell yes.

The main reason I went to see The A-Team was because it had Liam Neeson as the leading man. He’s one of my favorite actors and he’s playing an awesome character who leads a specially trained group of misfits and never stops smoking a cigar. It was the type of character you could tell he had fun playing and as a result, I had fun watching him play it.

What made the movie even more entertaining than I originally thought it would be was a fantastic performance by Sharlto Copley. Murdock was such a fun character, my eyes were always on him wondering what he’d do next. Other than that, The A-Team did have a story, but I didn’t really care about that, I was just more excited for the next action scene.

The A-Team was a hell of a time. All the actors were right where they belonged and no part of the movie could be considered slow. I went in expecting a good Liam Neeson performance and got more out of the movie than I could’ve hoped. The A-Team is in no way even close to cinema at its finest or anything, it was just fun.

Taken Review

There’s only one reason I saw this movie and that of course was Liam Neeson. He was the perfect pick and did a fantastic acting job, unfortunately I can’t say that about anyone else. I was expecting a lot more out of this movie, but what I got was highly predictable and unimaginative. They could’ve done a lot more with the simple plot, but instead just did what all films about basically the same plot do. Most might find the action in this movie entertaining, but I wasn’t amused by the many action scenes in the movie.

The movie had the simple plot of a daughter going on a vacation and getting kidnapped. Then her, ex-CIA agent, father goes on a quest to save her. Now a simple plot can sometimes be a lot  more powerful then it seems, take No Country for Old Men example. This is not one of those movies. It was just like any one of the 50 Harrison Ford movies about the same thing except with a better actor thrown in. Now one of these stereotypical kidnapping movies haven’t come out in a while so the public was blind- sighted, but I was not very entertained. The only scenes I really fully enjoyed were the dialogue scenes involving Liam Neeson.

The ending was predictable as everything else and the fact that the daughter didn’t show any signs of more affection towards her father a few days after being saved tells me the that this movie and especially the ending was not thought through very well. Well Taken was a decent film to start off the new year. Simple action plots are always good to start the year off, but there could’ve been a lot more to this one, with a great actor like Liam Neeson behind the project.

#17 Train Scene (Batman Begins)

Anyone who knows me knows that the Dark Knight is far and beyond my favorite movie, but I also love the original Batman Begins and this is by far my favorite scene in the movie.

Best Character: Ra’s Al Ghul

Best Quote: “I’m not going to kill you, but I don’t have to save you.”

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian Review

Let me start by saying that the first one was much better and if you disagree with that comment then you won’t agree with this review much at all. I feel that they tried way too hard with the action in this one, they just threw a bunch of action scenes at you and it really took away from the simplistic plot that they had. The villain was just annoying in this one, he didn’t make me fear for the main characters at all, especially when you compare him to the white witch from the first one. He was afraid to fight a thirteen-year-old boy, if that’s not scary, then I don’t know what is (sarcasm). What really threw me away from the liking of this movie though was the fact that the only cool character basically wasn’t in it. Aslan the lion played by Liam Neeson, who’s an amazing actor, was barely in it and I was hoping for a lot more from him. I will say that the biblical symbolism was pulled off really well in this movie and there were some good scenes. The song at the end was very unnecessary also.
