Wanted Review

They could’ve gone in four different directions when it comes to Wanted. They could’ve made it funny with corny action, serious with corny action, funny with serious action, or they could’ve made it an all around serious action movie. Well, they picked the first one and I disagreed with that choice. Wanted has the potential to be a serious action film because it has a decently good plot and story line, which surprised me, but instead you get lame attempts at humor that didn’t even get a smirk out of me and obvious plot twists that I guessed just from watching the trailer. I wouldn’t have even minded the whole bullet curving, or car back flips, etc. if they didn’t try to force incredibly lame and corny jokes at you. From the trailer I knew I was going to see laws of physics broken, but does that mean you can’t be serious with the rest of the movie. Everyone did a decently good job,  but that doesn’t make up for the rest of the movie. At the end of the movie, the main character turns to the audience and asks “What the fuck have you done lately?” and I turned to my friend and said, “I just watched a dumb movie”. I’m not gonna lie to you though, this movie was dumb and deserves a lower grade because this movie could’ve been much better, but I’m gonna have to give this a decent grade because I was very entertained.

The Incredible Hulk Review

Edward Norton, Tim Roth, and William Hurt, all good actors and all were perfect for their roles in this decently executed super hero movie. This was a pretty good movie, but no where near Iron Man. The Incredible Hulk had some very amazing pros to it, but also had some noticeable cons. First of all, this movie was ten times better than the original, which isn’t saying much at all. SGI was great in this movie and the fights were fun to watch. Because of it’s pace, it really didn’t feel like two hours at all. It was also just an extremely well acted and fun super hero movie that you would’ve hoped for the first time. My problem with it was it had this ability to be really intense and just flat out sweet, but there were times where it was extremely cheesy too and I’m just sitting there wondering why the whole movie couldn’t be intense and cool. I also reallyliked Tim Roth’s character, but when he changed into the Abomination, he was a totally different character and not just his looks because he looked cool, it was the dumb corny lines he yelled out that just took away from the intensity of the character. The action sequences were well-thought out, creative and fierce, the dialogue was pretty good, and bruce banner/hulk’s emotional/physical problems were shown expertly in this adaption. Oh and the most famous hulk line isn’t even in the movie, it’s made a joke of (corny). Overall, it was an awesome super hero movie and an ok movie.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian Review

Let me start by saying that the first one was much better and if you disagree with that comment then you won’t agree with this review much at all. I feel that they tried way too hard with the action in this one, they just threw a bunch of action scenes at you and it really took away from the simplistic plot that they had. The villain was just annoying in this one, he didn’t make me fear for the main characters at all, especially when you compare him to the white witch from the first one. He was afraid to fight a thirteen-year-old boy, if that’s not scary, then I don’t know what is (sarcasm). What really threw me away from the liking of this movie though was the fact that the only cool character basically wasn’t in it. Aslan the lion played by Liam Neeson, who’s an amazing actor, was barely in it and I was hoping for a lot more from him. I will say that the biblical symbolism was pulled off really well in this movie and there were some good scenes. The song at the end was very unnecessary also.

Iron Man Review

This was my first time going to the theater in 4 months, which is disturbing to me. Let me just say that I need to get back on track with movies because if the rest of the movies to come out this summer are even half as spectacular as Iron Man, than I will have found heaven. Iron Man was the best superhero movie I’ve seen since Batman Begins, and it could’ve even have been better then that (I haven’t decided yet). Iron was more than just a superhero movie though, it was a well acted, well cast, full blown entertaining, colorful, extravaganza. Iron Man is exactly what a movie should be. A movie should have good acting, have a good story, and be entertaining throughout, and that’s what Iron Man was. Robert Downey Jr. was born to play this role, as if his entire career just led to him playing Tony Stark, he was amazing and we’ll be seeing him more often. Jeff Bridges was the perfect pick for the villain in this movie because you can see Bridges as a fun loving comedic guy and than he just switches on you, he was so much fun to watch. Gwyneth and Terrence were also great for their parts. The special effects in this movie didn’t seem like special effects at all, every little inch of that beautiful suit was detailed and thought out. Go see this movie, you won’t regret it.

PS: Stay after the credits, you won’t regret this either.

Gone Baby Gone

Surprisingly, this was a decently entertaining movie. It had a very interesting story that wasn’t as simple as it seemed. Its also not as predictable as it seems. Ben Affleck did a good job for once. He created a good puzzle that the viewer has to put together, but there were some problems in my opinion. I really didn’t relate to or enjoy many of the characters, they were kind of annoying. The only two I liked was Ed Harris’ character and Morgan Freeman’s character, who was only in the movie for about five minutes. Also, and many might disagree with me here, I really didn’t enjoy the ending. Other then that , the movie was good and can be talked about more than many other movies. !!!SPOILER!!! Don’t read ahead if you haven’t seen this movie!!!Why did Casey feel that he could be judge, jury, and executioner by killing this cocaine addict, but when a good family is going to take care of the little girl, he has to call the cops because it’s the right thing. Those parts contradict each other and were poorly written. Grade: B

The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford

This is an incredibly well made and well acted movie. It could stand on its own visually and narrated in a way that makes you really pay attention when the narrator is talking. This is a pretty long movie (160 min), but it doesn’t leave anything out and makes you feel like your really there. Unlike most westerns, this movie is realistically told and doesn’t just throw a bunch of guns and action at you. This was a very interesting history lesson, but don’t get discouraged when I say history lesson because this is one lesson you don’t want to be texting during.  Grade: A
