Cars 2 Review

Cars 2 was a film that somehow managed to be disappointing, completely expected and a blast at the same time. I will say this very early on, this is the worst Pixar movie I’ve seen. I’ve loved every Pixar movie I’ve seen except for Cars 2. Which is not to say I didn’t enjoy Cars 2, because I did and rather thoroughly, its just a Pixar film that didn’t reach the quality that every other Pixar film managed to reach.

This as I said before, completely expected. This film simply did not look nearly as amazing as any Pixar movie we’d seen before. It just wasn’t the right decision overall. This would be the sequel to virtually the worst received of all Pixar films, Cars. I loved Cars with a passion, but it can’t be denied that Cars did not get nearly as much reception as films such as The Incredibles or Up. Why make a sequel when we’re all aware you’re capable of creating beautiful originals such as Wall-E. (But don’t get me wrong, if you’re gonna continue a series with a film as flawless as Toy Story 3 then don’t let my words hold you back)

With every Pixar movie, they’ve essentially taken a very general thing (Monters, Rats, Toys, Bugs, Cars, etc.) and created some type of enthralling tale behind it. Cars 2 was essentially Pixar’s take on Spies, they just happened to throw the characters from their story about Cars into this tale and to that idea I say, why not? Just do what you do best and in this case, Pixar has unfortunately not.

That’s where the disappointment comes in. Even though, this was a little bit expected, its just downright disappointing that there actually is a Pixar film in existence now that isn’t amazing. That fact is not only disappointing, but utterly sad. With Cars 2, instead of having sweet morals and storytelling you get a film more heavy on action and attempts at jokes. And the jokes that used to be filled with brilliant wit were now corny and childish. You could certainly recognize some of that originality in its craft that you come to expect from a Pixar film, but this originality overall just wasn’t being used to its full potential. The best way to describe my take on Cars 2 would be to say that it was a pretty great animated film, but only a pretty good Pixar film.

Inception Review

After watching Inception, I had a thought. This thought comes to me occasionally when watching a movie, but it’s actually quite rare. Its a thought you have to work towards, one you have to earn as a filmmaker. Because its a thought that I’m sure many have had after watching a movie, but it may not occur as often as you’d like so you really have to savor it. My thought was this: “Wow, now that’s a movie.”

Inception is the story of a man named Dom Cobb who is able to tap into people’s dreams so he can extract secrets, but the movie turns to masterpiece when asked to perform the seemingly impossible task of Inception. Instead of extracting an idea, Cobb and his team must instead plant one in. It’s a tale that is fascinating, memorable and some what beautiful.

On top of that, it’s cast so exceptionally well. DiCaprio, never ceases to amaze me anymore, Marion Cotillard was fantastic, and Joseph Gordan-Levitt was such a thrill to watch. He’s certainly got a career ahead of him. Honeslty though, every actor is fantastic in his or her role. Everyone just fits so perfectly, it doesn’t even seem like you’re watching a performance, you’re just watching that character and the story around them unfold.

Christopher Nolan has never let me down, I love, with a passion every single movie he’s made so far. Especially The Dark Knight and Inception. A year ago, when Inception teasers were being released, people had absolutely no clue what was going on. Neither did I. I didn’t care, I knew that in a year I’d be watching another Nolan masterpiece. Guess what happened… I was right!

I love all of his movies, but not since Memento has he ever been this original. It was inspiring really to watch such a perfect movie that wasn’t a sequel or remake or based on a book, cause so often movies are. No, Inception came from an idea of the director and was put on screen exactly the way the director saw fit, but this isn’t just any old director. This is one of the greatest directors of all time. Making Inception undoubtedly one of the greatest movies I’ve ever seen. Every single ounce of me is in love with this movie, no other word can describe it best other than, masterpiece.

The Dark Knight’s Last Stand

!!!PLEASE READ NOW!!!

!!!PLEASE READ IMMEDIATLY!!!

Last weekend, The Dark Knight was in it’s third weekend and I didn’t write this article last week because I honestly believed that The Dark Knight could beat The Mummy 3 in its third weekend and I was right. The Dark Knight was higher in its third week than Mummy was in its first by 1.4 million dollars. Now is where everyone is saying that The Dark Knight is going to fall, they’re saying that it will never beat Titanic or even go another weekend on top. Well I say that we as fans can and will proof these non-believers wrong like we did last weekend let’s show them all what’s possible when it comes to this movie.

This spectacular movie has broken almost every record in the book and I’m aiming for it to beat one more and that’s to beat Titanic out of the top spot for most money made Domestically. Titanic has made $600,788,188 Domestically. So far, The Dark Knight has made $394,887,000. What’s a measly little $200,000,000 when it comes to a movie this good, if there’s one movie that could do it, it’s The Dark Knight whose broken the record for most money made in a span of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, and even 10 days. It even broke the record for most made in  the first weekend, which most said was impossible, but we as fans proofed them wrong. Well, let’s proof them wrong again with The Dark Knight’s Last Stand.

If like me and are a fan of The Dark Knight than read on, if your like me and enjoy The Dark Knight more than Titanic than read on, if your also like me and want to see the movie with Heath Ledger’s final completed performance make more than Titanic Domestically, than read on please. I have seen The Dark Knight several times so far and am going to see it at least twice this weekend. If you have not seen The Dark Knight yet, please go see it, you will not regret it, the movie is astounding and anyone who has seen it will tell you the same unless they’re just trying to be an outcast. If you already have seen the movie, see it again this weekend, multiple times. Let’s as fans show the world that a movie this good is able to be better than it previous weekends, probably not its first or second, but at least substantially higher than its third, no that its third was bad because it did beat a movie that had a bit of a following. If you’re a Dark Knight send this URL to other Dark Knight fans, tell all the Dark Knight fans about what you read here, and force the people you know who haven’t seen it yet into their closest theater. If you are a true Dark Knight fan than post a comment here telling all viewers how many times you’ve seen the movie and how many times you plan to see the movie this weekend. Thank-You.

The Dark Knight Review

This movie has undoubtedly exceeded my very unrealistic expectations , in fact, this movie would have exceeded my expectations no matter how high they were. I am sick of his movie being compared to stupid movies like Spider-Man and Fantastic Four because saying that this movie is one of the greatest comic book movies of all time is bringing it down a notch, because folks believe it or not this is by far the greatest comic book movie of all time, and not only that, but it’s also one of the greatest movies of all time period. That’s right, I said it, and I’ll say it again, this is one of the greatest movies of all time. What are you gonna do, call me a fan boy, say that I would’ve liked it even if it sucked because it was a Batman movie. That’s not true at all, I didn’t start liking Batman until Batman Begins, which was in my opinion an A+ movie, but this was so much better in so many ways. This is an amazing movie, if you miss seeing it, I’m sorry.

Let me start my next comment with a little message to the 1 to 1000000000000000 ratio of critics who didn’t like this movie. There was barely any of you out there, but to that minimal amount of people, Fuck You. I’m sorry, I know that I’m supposed to allow everyone to have their own opinion, but I can’t think of a single reason to give this movie below an A, and A+ for that matter. The only reason I could possibly think of is the fact that you couldn’t handle everyone in the world liking it, so you had to be the few people to give it a bad grade, or maybe it was that you couldn’t handle the fact that this genre of movie could bring a movie this amazing. Whatever the reason, to those very few critics who didn’t give this movie a good grade, find a new profession and fast, the one you have right now isn’t going to work out.

This movie was flawless, I could watch this movie 100 times and still not figure out a single thing that bothered me in the movie. It was flawlessly directed, written, and acted by every cast member especially Ledger, but I’ll get to that later. Maggie was ten times the Rachel Dawes that Holmes was. Aaron Eckhart was delightfully cool and fun that transforms into disfigured and dangerous, and he makes the part his own with such indiscribeble flair. Caine and Freeman are at the top of their game as always. Christian Bale was fantastic, he added much more complexity to a complex character, he surpassed his original already good performance with flying colors.

Now we get to Heath Ledger, I’ve been looking forward to this performance for a year now, where as I was anticipating the movie itself for three years. My expectations for this character were off the charts, I knew this character would be amazing, but to tell you the truth, I had no idea. The Joker actually exceeded my expectations, he was insane, disturbing, hysterically funny, suicidal, and loads o fun. It is impossible for a character to be better than this, impossible. I am just sad that I started my Top 50 characters list before I saw this movie, he would have been near the top, For Sure. I don’t want to give anything away, but lets just say that he makes feel insecure while he’s around you because he torments your mind with disturbing choices. The Joker is what you would get if you put Jack Torrence, Alex DeLarge, Hannibal Lecter, and paint in a blender and then multiplied it all by 10. Heath Ledger/The Joker is amazing, he kills, destroys and burns, whatever comes his way for one purpose only, to have a blast. Well, while The Joker was having a blast, I was having a blast watching him. He put a smile on my face every time he walked on the screen.

The Dark Knight is spectacular. Oh, forgot to mention this, this is a comic book movie so every kid on earth is gonna wanna see, but take my word for it, do not bring children to this movie. As much as I want to see this movie make a lot of money because it’s amazing I’m gonna have to say do not do it, this movie is not and will never be intended towards children. Anyways, back to the review, The Dark Knight could not have been better than this was. Go see it multiple times now, you will not regret it. If you go in there wanting to have a good time, you’ll have and amazing time. If you go in there thinking you’ll have an ok time, you’ll have an amazing time. If you were dragged into it and you hate Batman and super hero films, you’ll have an amazing time. If you go in there trying to be a critic and attempting to point out flaws because you feel that there has to be at least one person who hates it, you’ll still probably have an amazing time, except for a few of you who are blinded by comic book physique. I know I said it multiple times already, but I’m going to say it again with a few different adjectives, The Dark Knight was unbelievably incredible and leaves you with an astonished speechlessness. This is why I love movies. The Dark Knight is a masterpiece.

Grade: A+

The Dark Knight Expectations

Above you’ll see my ticket for the earliest time I can see the movie that I have been anticipating for 3 years, The Dark Knight. I stare at from time to time just wondering and praying that it will live up to the unrealistic expectations I’ve given it. Not unrealistic to The Dark Knight though, unrealistic to any movie. I look at reviews from my favorite site Rope of Silicon, Dark Knight Movie Review. I look at reviews from Rolling Stones and Rotten Tomatoes, Rolling Stones Review and RT Reviews, and I ask the golden question. Will The Dark Knight live up to all this hype? That has been the golden question through-out this entire month and now I’m finally asking it.

MY EXPECTATIONS:

I want to see this movie more then I have ever wanted to see a movie before in my life, no joke. I honestly think that this movie will be top ten material if not top five. Batman Begins was an incredible movie, the best comic book movie by far. I believe this movie will be as good as Batman Begins multiplied by the awesome character that will be the Joker, which will easily be a 10, soooo…

The Dark Knight= Batman Begins x 10

Those are my expectations, will I be satisfied when the clock strikes two and a half hours after 12:01, will I be sad, or will my expectations even be exceeded? Who knows, but what I do know is this…

WHAT I DO KNOW:

I know that and I knew since december of last year that this movie will make more then any other movie this year and I would and would have bet a lot of money on that fact. I know what I would do if this movie was bad. I’ve been asked the question, “What would you do if it sucked?”, about a hundred times and the answer is always the same; “It won’t”, I say jokingly because how could I possibly know that, then I say; “I’d kill myself”, another joke, because my real answer is; “I’d go into a constant state of depression for awhile and have to start looking for a new movie to anticipate.” What I do know at the end of it all is this, I know that I will buy this movie on DVD the day it comes out because I KNOW GOOD MOVIE OR BAD MOVIE, HEATH LEDGER IS GOING TO BE AMAZING AS THE JOKER.

I lay in my bed every night, looking at the multiple Dark Knight posters I have on my wall, and pray that The Dark Knight will live up to my expectations and yours. I cannot answer this question yet, but I can answer it in 4 days. The second I get home from what I hope to be in my top ten list of greatest movies of all time, I will be on my site writing a review for the long awaited movie of 2008 and I hope and pray that it’s a good one. This being Heath Ledger’s last movie will be the one that he will be remembered for, let us all pray that it is a good memory. I raise my imaginary champagne glass “To Heath”, who will now and forever be very missed. I leave you now with my favorite Dark Knight trailer and TV Spot.
